2:14 pm EST: UK votes to leave 51.8%, Stocks plunge, Dow down 700, UK dollar moves to leave the UK
11:35pm EST: Pound falls 11% to US dollar as 60%of the vote is in and the leave hold 2%
10:27pm EST: voting is neck-and-neck.
The Brexit (British exit from the EU) is being covered live by the WSJ here. The pro-leave vote holds a slight lead in early voting over those who choose to remain a member. They resent being led by technocrats in Brussels who want them to give up their sovereignty to strangers from foreign lands who do not hold their values and do not assimilate.
No matter which way it goes, Nigel Farage says the war will be won because the genie is out of the bottle.
“Nigel, you’re looking buoyant. How do you read it?” a reporter asked.
“It’s going to be close. Who wins this particular battle I don’t know. What I do know is we’re going to win the war. Because the genie is out of the bottle. There is no way that anyone voted leave today, whether we win or lose, will change their mind. What we have next week, the most remarkable thing is not what’s happened in British politics in the last couple months, it’s European politics. Now we’re seeing opinion polls in the Netherlands, Denmark. Even in Italy. The population of those countries support leaving the European union. The project is dead. This British referendum stays forever.”
Barack Obama has in the past threatened Britain with the loss of trade deals but if Trump wins, they will be treated fairly, if he doesn’t, the Democrats will seek revenge.
At first, the EU sounded like nothing more than a union as we see in the United States – with separate nations joining together for trade deals alone – but it’s become a Socialist union demanding compliance and a loss of sovereignty.
Early voting as of 9pm EST US
There is something else that is very important and that we should keep in mind. The TransPacific Partnership has a clause in it that sets up an International Commission.
Senator Sessions is most concerned about the establishment of an International Tribunal which is in the deal. He sees it as robbing us of our sovereignty and freedom. “It has all the earmarks of how the European Union was formed,” he said.
That was back in June, 2015 but the International Tribunal is still in the TPP.
Trump is opposed to TPP. Hillary was for it before she recently opposed it so who knows what she will do.
Obama cannot be trusted to negotiate TPP and those who allowed him to are naive or weak or desperate for the deal no matter what. At other times, he sounds like he’s opposed to all trade though he claims is a strong supporter of free trade. At least he hasn’t given away trade secrets to China as the Clintons have done in Chinagate.
We need to do something and it’s not to open our borders willy nilly to a North American Union which is why Hilary’s advisor, John Pedestal, and her chief fundraiser, George Soros, want.
Trump says he knows how to build businesses and he says the system is “rigged.” He wants good trade deals, something Hillary is oblivious to.
Yesterday, Trump said this:
I have visited the cities and towns across America and seen the devastation caused by the trade policies of Bill and Hillary Clinton.
Hillary Clinton supported Bill Clinton’s disastrous NAFTA, just like she supported China’s entrance into the World Trade Organization. We’ve lost nearly one-third of our manufacturing jobs since these two Hillary-backed agreements were signed.
Our trade deficit with China soared 40% during Hillary Clinton’s time as Secretary of State — a disgraceful performance for which she should not be congratulated, but rather scorned.
Then she let China steal hundreds of billions of dollars in our intellectual property – a crime which is continuing to this day. Hillary Clinton gave China millions of our best jobs, and effectively let China completely rebuild itself.
The decline of American manufacturing has been hurt by bad trade deals and illegal workers but then there is automation and technology which has taken away manufacturing jobs that it doesn’t pay for us to have here in the States.
Service economies are not independent sovereign nations and that’s what we are becoming. Protectionism is bad – we need fair trade and we don’t need more selling of secrets. We need balance and we don’t need the globalism being shoved down our throats – Kerry’s one world.
Forget trade destroying sovereignty and our manufacturing, think of the direction Hillary is looking to go.
If you are unfamiliar with the North American Union movement, George Soros wants to replace US passports with North American passports as they have in the EU. It doesn’t end with that.
