Prince, a megastar and music icon, age 57, died today from unknown causes though tmz is reporting he suffered a drug overdose a few days ago. He was found dead in an elevator in his building.
Earlier this week, a plane was forced to land because he became ill, allegedly with the flu, though tmz now says it was an overdose. He was taken to a hospital but after a few hours he was released.
Paramedics tried to perform CPR on him today but were unable to revive him, CNN reported. He was pronounced dead at 10:07 a.m., less than 30 minutes after sheriff’s deputies responded to a medical call at the scene.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding his death. An autopsy will be performed by the Midwest regional medical examiner on Friday.
Prince was recently concerned about his health and became a vegan. He spoke out against drug and alcohol addiction in recent years and didn’t allow tobacco or alcohol at his parties.
He was said to be very generous – a philanthropist. He had become more and more reclusive over the last several years. There are reports he had thousands of what are said to be ‘beautiful’ records in a vault.
A close friend said he just got a new Yamaha piano and a guitar which he was excited about.
