“House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., will appoint the first Muslim member to the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, which deals with sensitive information on America’s war against terrorism,” according to Newsmax.
Carson, an Indiana Democrat, has associated with terrorists, hates the Tea Party, loves Madrassas, and is a member of far-left congressional groups.
Patrick Poole at PJ Media broke the story that Carson had been scheduled to speak at a panel at the Muslim American Society (MAS) – Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) annual convention held recently in Chicago. The panel included Mazen Mokhtar, who, as federal agents have testified in federal court, helped run an Al-Qaeda website that raised money for the Taliban.
At the time, Carson’s scheduled appearance on the panel was noted on the convention’s online program but after the revelation, his name was removed from the website.
He’s made a fair number of radical, controversial statements.
In 2011, Carson told the Congressional Black Caucus that “some of them in Congress right now of this tea party movement would love to see you and me hanging on a tree” and accused tea party members of creating “the effort that we’re seeing of Jim Crow.”
In 2012, HuffPo reported that Carson said, “America will never tap into educational innovation and ingenuity without looking at the model that we have in our madrassas, in our schools, where innovation is encouraged, where the foundation is the Quran.”
Pamela Geller quoted him as saying, “9-11 Was Tough On Muslims,’ Islam In America Is ‘Under Attack, But Must Not Retreat.”
Islam analyst Daniel Pipes, director of the Middle East Forum, wrote that Carson represents the ‘Islamists’ choice for the House of Representatives.’
“Pipes described Islamists as Muslims ‘who seek to replace the Constitution with the Quran and apply Islamic law in its entirety and severity.’”
Carson is a member of the Congressional Black Caucus and the Congressional Progressive Caucus.
Carson was one of 71 key progressives endorsed by 21st Century Democrats in the 2008 election cycle, second round.
The 21st Century Democrats is a Political Action Committee that has stood for Progressive causes for over 20 years. Founded in 1986 by Institute for Policy Studies affiliate, Iowa Senator Tom Harkin, Democratic Socialists of America affiliates, former Texas Agriculture Secretary Jim Hightower, and former Illinois Congressman Lane Evans.
Its three main goals are to help elect progressive candidates, train young people about grassroots organizing, and lastly, to continue to support our elected officials after Election Day “through our comprehensive progressive network”.
Long time Board chair was Democratic Socialists of America member Jim Scheibel, a former Mayor of Saint Paul, Minnesota.
In 2010, Carson signed a letter addressed to President Barack Obama, calling for him to use diplomatic pressure to lift the Gaza blockade.
