Ft. Lee NJ Bans Texting While Walking – Nannyism Run Amok

They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. ~ Ben Franklin

When I was a kid, there was a jaywalking law and if people crossed the street from anywhere but the corner, they were ticketed. My mother did one day while she had me in tow. A very aggressive cop gave her a ticket for crossing within feet of the corner. My mother was besides herself and so was I. We were made to feel like criminals. I also felt abused.

Now a similar law is being resuscitated for texters.

Weren’t we warned about not giving up freedom for a false sense of safety and security?

Ft. Lee NJ is now fining people $85 if they text and walk at the same time. They want to keep people “safe.” They are also making a tidy profit.

I have one question though – who is going to keep us safe from the government? Is there anything they can’t ban and fine?

The video takes it lightly but I find it to be an absurd intrusion into peoples’ lives –
