Barack Obama thinks that Ho Chi Minh, president and prime minister of Vietnam, modeled his murderous dictatorship after Thomas Jefferson and Jeffersonian democracy. At least that is what Obama told Truong Tan Sang, the communist Vietnamese president, when they met at the White House Thursday.
Sang gave a copy of a letter sent by Ho Chi Minh to Harry Truman asking for aid. Obama accepted and said, And we discussed the fact that Ho Chi Minh was actually inspired by the US Declaration of Independence and Constitution, and the words of Thomas Jefferson.
Mother Jones, a Soros site, backed up Obama’s pandering by saying that Minh played the Star Spangled Banner and quoted Thomas Jefferson when he delivered his Declaration of Independence in 1945. Mother Jones failed to mention that Minh then proceeded to massacre supporters of the Vietnamese nationalist movements. Minh was a ruthless dictator who murdered his own people.
Ho Chi Minh treated POW’s brutally during the Vietnam War. One of those prisoners was Air Force Col. Sam Johnson, now 82. He was a resident of the Hanoi Hilton for 7 years. He was a highly decorated Air Force pilot when his plane was shot down over North Vietnam in 1966. He came home to become a 12-term Texas Republican.
Johnson’s response says it all:
“Sadly, when it comes to individual liberty, the President doesn’t have a clue,” he said in a statement issued by his office Friday afternoon. “What an insult to the POWs brutally tortured at the merciless hands — and rifle butts — of our captors. This is a slap in the face to those who served — and especially those who paid the ultimate price for freedom during that dark time in history. Let me tell you, there was nothing ‘free’ about my seven years in captivity in Hanoi — more than half of that time in solitary confinement. As a fellow POW etched on a prison cell wall, ‘Freedom has a taste to those who fight and almost die that the protected will never know.’ ”
President Obama was pandering but don’t you wonder if a part of him doesn’t admire the Ho as a victim of US aggression?
