Media Mortification! Gay Waitress of Homophobic Slur Fame Is a Liar

Remember the story of the gay waitress who said a homophobic slur was written on a receipt in lieu of a tip? She began to receive donations from all over the world, some reportedly in the thousands of dollars.

She became famous overnight when a reporter saw her brief comment with a photo of what we now know was a doctored receipt – actually a photoshopped receipt – on Facebook.

Since that broke, a couple, who are pro-gay marriage, came forward because they object to fraud and they had the original receipt, undoctored. There was no homophobic slur on it and they left a tip for which their credit card was charged.

The waitress has since been suspended from the restaurant where she worked. This was after they conducted an internal investigation.

Lohud.com conducted interviews of former friends and acquaintances who said she ‘lies about everything.’  ‘Every story she comes up with has a lie,’ said Julie Howat, 23, of Pomona.

Morales told people she served in Afghanistan but that wasn’t true either:

A spokesman for the Marines, Major Shawn Haney, said in an email that Morales had served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve from July 13, 2009, to May 21, 2013 at the rank of Lance Corporal, E-3, as an administrative specialist. She was assigned to the Marine Air Group 49, 4th Marine Air Wing out of Newburgh and deployed from April to June 2012 to Romania as part of the Black Sea Rotational Force 11.

“There is no indication of combat service in Iraq or Afghanistan,” he added in a follow-up email. Also, “While (Morales) did not fulfill her reserve obligation, per the Privacy Act, administrative actions are not releasable. The same applies to character of service and type of discharge.”

One of our readers, Sua Sponte, has uncovered additional information from NJ 101.5. Morales was dismissed less than honorably from the Marines for not attending drills while stationed in Newburgh, New York.

Ms. Morales is in danger of being indicted for fraud for what she has done. She said that she was going to donate the money she collected to Wounded Warriors. Sorry, not good enough. All the money needs to be returned immediately and the police need to investigate her.

One of the most obnoxious aspects of this is the fact that the left-leaning media [especially NBC], which is almost all of the media, jumped all over this story when she posted it on Facebook. They made a cause célèbre out of it because they want to believe everyone who is not on the left is out to hurt gay people. They didn’t check her story – at all. With a minimal amount of investigation, they would have uncovered the lies but they chose instead to accept it without question and use it for political purposes.

If you are unfamiliar with her story, read on.

A former marine and gay waitress in a New Jersey restaurant  posted a photo on Facebook of a receipt that had a hand written note on it which said “I’m sorry but I cannot tip because I do not agree with your lifestyle.” She claims there was no tip.

She  has been sent  donations from around the world from generous sympathizers. One woman said she was giving her $3000.

It appears that Dayna’s accusations are possibly not true, though she is sticking by her story.

Unfortunately for Dayna, the couple she accused came forward with the alleged time-stamped receipt and a copy of their credit card bill which showed they did tip her . There was no such message written on their copy. It’s a mystery.

The couple said they inadvertently offended her when they thought the manager said her name was Dan and said, ‘Whoa, you’re not Dan’ when she came over to their table. That might have set her off.

The family in question contacted NBC4 New York to tell their story and show NBC their proof. They asked to remain anonymous but asked that their receipt be printed.

The wife said it was not her signature and the handwriting was not theirs.

“We’ve never not left a tip when someone gave good service, and we would never leave a note like that,” the wife said.

The husband said he and his wife have both worked in restaurants and believe in the value of tipping, and noted that he didn’t vote for Gov. Chris Christie because the governor doesn’t support gay marriage.

“Never would a message like that come from us,” he said.

They came forward because the donations were not being collected honestly.

The restaurant would not produce the receipt for NBC.

All I can say is it might be better to not donate to Ms. Morales!
