Will we be the kind of nation that harvests the body parts of unborn infants, chops them into pieces, and sells them to research firms with shadowy intermediaries every step of the way? It appears so. If you believe this survey.
Despite the exposé on the horrific harvesting and selling of aborted baby body parts and the unorthodox methods of aborting the unborn babies by Planned Parenthood, an overwhelming number of Americans are strongly opposed to defunding them according to a poll conducted by a firm hired by Planned Parenthood (PP).
PP hired a Democratic polling firm, Hart Research, to find out if Americans still want to fund Planned Parenthood after exposure of their gruesome and seemingly illegal practices.
The pollsters found that 64 percent of voters still want federal funding for the organization.
A total of 800 registered voters were surveyed by phone with a statistical margin of error associated with a sample of this size is ±3.5 percentage points.
Here’s the question that voters were asked:
Some Republicans in Congress say that because of the undercover videos released by the Center for Medical Progress, there should be an immediate vote to end all government funding for Planned Parenthood, including for services Planned Parenthood provides, such as cancer screenings and family planning. Do you strongly agree, somewhat agree, somewhat disagree, or strongly disagree with the Republicans who say Congress should vote immediately vote to end all government funding for Planned Parenthood, including for services Planned Parenthood provides, such as cancer screenings and family planning?
The conclusion of the survey is that because those surveyed overwhelmingly support PP, defunding is a “substantial liability for Republicans”.
Surveys over the phone with carefully-controlled questions, or in this case, one key question, are easily manipulated to produce a result that will sway public opinion, especially with any wishy-washy Republicans who were the main target of the pre-envisioned results.
The survey found that defunding this organization is strongly opposed by Democrats and Independents and barely supported by Republicans.
There is overwhelming opposition to the GOP’s proposal for defunding Planned Parenthood among Democrats (87% oppose) and independents (68% oppose). Only a bare majority of Republicans support their party’s position on defunding Planned Parenthood, while a significant minority stand against their party on this matter (53% favor, 34% oppose). Republican voters who do not identify with the Tea Party are divided evenly (47% favor, 44% oppose).
The strength of Planned Parenthood’s positive reputation among women, according to Hart Research, is rooted in three widely held beliefs about the organization which advertises widely and often.
- First, 61% of women believe Planned Parenthood plays an important role in reducing the number of unintended pregnancies.
- Second, 59% of women believe Planned Parenthood is an important provider of healthcare services to women in America.
- Third, 59% of women believe that for many women, Planned Parenthood is one of the few affordable options for healthcare
Republicans need to commission their own study with adequate questions to find out if this is the case. It could be.
Rand Paul believes even pro-abortion advocates are “horrified” by the harvesting and sale of aborted babies.
On Sean Hannity’s Show last night, Paul said they are two votes away from defunding and might get Democrat votes.
“We are going to get a vote on this, the Senate will vote on defunding Planned Parenthood before we leave in August…” said Rand Paul. “The way the Senate rules are you always have to get to… the 60 vote margin. We’re going to try to keep the Republicans together and there’s at least three or four Democrats that we think we have a chance of getting. That puts us close, up to about 58 then.”
“What about the founder of Planned Parenthood,” asks host Sean Hannity at the end of the segment, “Margaret Sanger.”
“Well, she was a eugenicist who thought you could use abortion to try to get rid of people who were inferior,” responds Paul. “I think this is why you are also finding that a lot of people who have kids with disabilities are horrified that we are going to get rid of those that are less than perfect. We’re all less than perfect in one way or another.”
It’s not clear that Americans answering the survey have seen the videos or just heard the biased reporting, whatever reporting there is on it. ABC news has ignored it completely.
Prior to this survey, the omniscient Planned Parenthood announced that Americans trusted Planned Parenthood by a margin of 2 to 1.
Do they know what they trust? Planned Parenthood relies on their abortion business of over 300,000 per year and their famous mammograms are farmed out. The money we give them gets farmed out.
Why should Americans have to pay half a billion a year for this?
