President Obama wanted a copy of Dr. Ben Carson’s speech before the National Prayer Breakfast.

Dr Carson told the Hill that he refused several times, saying he did not put his thoughts on paper beforehand or use a teleprompter. Dr Carson is  a world renowned neurosurgeon at Johns Hopkins University.

“I told them that I don’t have an advance copy because I don’t write out my speeches and I don’t use teleprompters …they asked more than once … I gave them the [Biblical] texts around which the remarks would be framed … I said read those texts, the remarks will be framed around those … that should have told them something,” Carson said in an interview with The Hill this week.

President Obama is not used to people going before the media with speeches not scripted by him or his advisors. I can imagine the redacting that would have been done if he had turned the speech over.

The White House didn’t comment on his speech though the left media hated it and the right media loved it.

For me, it was nice to finally hear something other than the president’s voice coming out of everyone in the vicinity of the president.

From the hill:

Vice President Biden sat next to the physician after the speech but had little to say after the speech, Carson pointed out. “Later on, [Biden] said, ‘Nice being with you.’ ”

Carson said the president approached him after and said that  “he appreciated me being there and he admired me and shook my hand.”

Carson, who is black, and a registered independent with conservative views, believes the “spirituality of the country is sick right now,” and he didn’t want to waste the opportunity with a “vanilla” speech.

“The fact that we are allowing our thought processes and speech to be handcuffed by political correctness, destroying the dialogue that leads to solutions — that’s crazy,” Carson explained.

He says the Republican Party needs to stop paying lip service to minorities and win them over. Full story at the Hill
