Having a weak U.S. president has left the world in chaos and Russian bombers in the Caribbean. This has never happened before, not even during the Cold War.
Russian long-range strategic bombers are on patrol from the Arctic Ocean to the Gulf of Mexico. At the same time, Russia is sending troops and tanks into Eastern Ukraine.
Russia is saber rattling in our area of the world in retaliation for our stance on the Ukraine.
According to NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said, “Over the last few days, we have seen multiple reports of large convoys moving into Eastern Ukraine. We assess that this significant military buildup includes Russian artillery, tanks, air defense systems and troops. His statement called the situation a “severe threat to the cease-fire.”
U.S. Air Force Gen. Philip Breedlove said the Russia-Ukraine border is “completely wide open,” and “forces, money, support, supplies, weapons are flowing back and forth.”
Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu lied and said it wasn’t true (our president operates the same way). He also said that the dispute with the West over Ukraine requires Russia to beef up forces and maintain a military presence in the western Atlantic and eastern Pacific including the Caribbean and the Gulf of Mexico.
There has not been a word from Obama. All he is doing is welcoming millions of illegal immigrants into the country who we can ill afford to support.
Russian flights around North America have averaged five incidents a year. Without announcing their presence, they sent a warship to Cuba in February of this year. Last February, Russia circled a US military base in Guam and simulated a nuclear attack. They did the same thing in 2007. In 2012, a Russian submarine went undetected in the Gulf of Mexico for months.
Russia plans to use ports in Latin America and elsewhere for their navy ships. Putin is conducting talks with Algeria, Cyprus, Nicaragua, Venezuela, Cuba, Seychelles, Vietnam and Singapore.
We should be resisting intrusions into our area of the world but, instead,we are doing the opposite.
Last year, Obama cancelled the Monroe Doctrine.
The Monroe Doctrine was a U.S. foreign policy in Latin American countries formulated in 1823. It stated that further efforts by European nations to colonize land or interfere with states in North or South America would be viewed as acts of aggression, requiring U.S. intervention.
President Obama sent Secretary of State John Kerry to a meeting of the Organization of American States November, 2013 to tell them and the world the Monroe Doctrine was dead.
We retreated from Latin America. His announcement was welcomed by Imperialist communist Vladimir Putin.
In his speech, Kerry said the doctrine is a United States declaration about how and when it will intervene in affairs of other American states.” Kerry misstated the doctrine.
The day of his speech marked the 190th anniversary of this declaration by President James Monroe that warned the European powers to stay out of the Western Hemisphere or face U.S. wrath.
The doctrine was a United States policy introduced on December 2, 1823 which said that further efforts by European governments to colonize land or interfere with states in the Americas would be viewed by the United States as acts of aggression requiring U.S. intervention.
The Monroe Doctrine has been invoked several times in our history, most recently in 1962 when the Soviet Union began to build missile-launching sites in Cuba. With the support of the OAS, President John F. Kennedy threw a naval and air quarantine around Cuba. The Soviet Union agreed to withdraw several days later after dismantling their sites.
It has been the backbone of our foreign policy.
China, Russia and Iran are expanding their influence around the world and, by renouncing the Monroe Doctrine, we sent a message to them that we are abandoning our policy of protecting our hemisphere.
With his usual good timing, Mr. Obama decided this is the time to gut our military. Our army will be slightly larger than Myanmar’s army when he’s done. He is also destroying our nuclear weapons.
On Monday a report came out of the European Leadership Network which indicated there was a sharp rise in military encounters since Russia annexed Crimea. They have “violated national airspace, barely avoided midair collisions, engaged in close encounters at sea, harassed reconnaissance planes, conducted close overflights over warships, and initiated Russian mock bombing raid missions”, according to the AP.
It’s only a matter of time before we have a crisis, deliberate or inadvertent, it’s inevitable.
It’s very dangerous having a feckless president.
